A Mercantile Christmas Gatherings Stitchery Pattern
A Mercantile Christmas Gatherings Stitchery I feel so blessed to share my Mercantile cover as a stitchery/ painting design for the holidays. I hope you enjoy creating this as much as I did designing it. May God bless you and your hands while stitchin’ and painting. Before you begin with your needle you will have to cut 1 layer of muslin 16x10 inches & 1 layer of Warm & Natural. Next trace pattern onto top layer of muslin, using a Mark B Gone Pen. You may need to use a light box or window for your pattern to shine through your muslin. I use 3 strands of Dmc Floss for all my stitchin'. 1 strand if it is very small detailing. If you enjoy using pearl cotton size 8 works great and 12 for the details. If you like your stitchery to be colorful, you may dry brush your Twigs doodles with paint. I suggest that you stitch the details such as eyes, noses, plaids on dresses, stars on flags & words on dresses AFTER you have painted that specific area. If you are going to paint this design onto wood or canvas, trace pattern onto surface, then skip to painting directions below. You may use tiny buttons for the eyes of the angels and crow, I get the tinest, 4mm buttons. After you have stitched your Twigs doodle up, you will want it to look old and prim. I mix instant coffee with warm water and paint on top of your stitchery with a big ole cheap paint brush, or sponge brush and let dry. The more coffee you use the darker the stain. Sometimes sprinkling cinnamon into your wet paint brush makes it dry with cinnamon on them and they smell good too. After your stitchery is done drying, you are ready to make it into anything your heart desires, I love putting them in old frames, or make into pillows or wall hangings, the ideas can be endless.
